‘My Witness is the Empty Sky’ is a figurative depiction of a landscape near Lyons, CO. It was painted on commission for a couple getting married near this spot. The dreamy palettes are symbolic of the peaceful nostalgia that looking back on a time and place that was meaningful in one’s life can evoke. The arched figures in the foreground enhance the whimsical feel of this piece, and serve as a reminder to the commissioners of the altar that this landscape provided for them on their wedding day, with the empty sky as their witness. The title was borrowed from Jack Keroac’s 'Some of the Dharma'.

The original was painted with acrylic & gouache on wood (pictured in last listing image).
